Question: Are munchkin cats with no tails rare?

So we have like 3 outside cats and they are wild but we always feed and two of them are tailless. There is also a wild munchkin cat that hangs around, I dont know if he was someones pet that got out or what but he is definitely a munchkin and now we got 4 kittens outside, one of which is a munchkin with no tail. I tried finding others like it online but didnt come up with anything. Is this very rare or something? ya well we got one neutered but its kinda hard to trap them to get them all fixed. there is no way in hell of catching them and they are smart enough to know how to avoid the traps we get. so there is a reason why they are having babies. what you want us to do shoot them?

I think it is pretty rare for a cat to have both dwarfism and taillessness. It is certainly not part of the Munchkin standard. But this cat probably just was born that way via random-breeding. There are tailless cats within the domestic cat population. and Munchkins were originally just bred from domestic shorthairs that had a mutation for dwarfism, people found them and started breeding them. There are unfortunately a few people deliberately trying to create breeds with multiple structural mutations. i'm not sure if this particular combination of defects is one someone is breeding. I hope not.

The "tail-less " or "manx " gene is present in the cat population. Its not really rare but from time to time you just get tail-less cats. The biggest problem is the fact of spine/ leg problems in tail-less cats and then you add in very short legs! So these kittens may not live long or they will have major medical problems due to the no tail and very short legs. There is NO reason your outside cats should be having litters of kittens - get them ALL spayed and neutered now.
