If you can handle 2 cats and they get along 2 cats is great, as long as they have food, water, liter, and places to hide/ sleep they are good. since cats can sleep up to 20 hours a day (i should know, i have 4 cats) they don't always need lots of room. they may need a few toys but other then that cats are usually good in almost any environment.

If you get cats and are away from home most of the time you should try to have a buddy. As for indoor cats...NOT cruel. Cats get hit by cars, tortured by neighbors, and chased by dogs. Make sure to clean the litterbox every few days or less. (due to having 2) We keep our cats in too. There is just too much that could happen. If you have a balcony you could make a little outdoor play area for them but make sure it is safe. If you get 2 make sure that you don't mix boys and girls, for the obvious reason, but also because lots of female cats won't share litter with males.

My cats are indoor only, and as they looked out at the snow yesterday from the spot by the windows, being nice and warm, they would probably think being outside would be cruel. A cat tree for play and entertainment can be useful. And make sure any windows are secure so they can't fall out or dislodge the screens. As far as one or two, that is not an easy answer. Some cats like a buddy, and others like to be alone. Except for vet visits, two cats are not twice as costly to have as one. Often at a shelter or rescue place, they will have a good idea if the cat likes companionship or not.

Not cruel. CATS should NOT be allowed to roam free OUTDOORS.

Cats do fine in an apartment. Cats also do fine being alone a fair amount. If you are home most evenings, that is plenty of company for *most* cats. However, if you're at work all day and out most evenings too, then consider getting two cats. Note, however, that when you get two, they will bond more to each other than to you. That doesn't mean they still won't be affectionate, but they won't depend on you for company like a single cat would.

It depends on the cat, don't get one that wants to be outdoors all the time otherwise it would be cruel, to be fair I think its a bit mean keeping a cat cooped up in a flat altogether but maybe its normal in America.

Definitely get two, I have two indoor cats and would never have one on its own. Companionship and connection if they are left on their own. Get two please.
