Question: Adoption of awesome cat... (pictures!)?

I have just adopted a 13 year old american short hair, he is the coolest. He is a little bit slower than other cats I've had before and seems to be picky with his food.. however, he is a cuddle monster and very loving, would spent the whole day right next to me if he could.. this is him - http:/ / twitpic.com/ 8e12oy Any tips on how best to look after him, I have never taken care of a cat older than about 6... his paws are a bit dry, (can I moisturize them? or is it just from age) and ears need a good clean.. however he seems to love being handled. Also he is black, and has wide set eyes and looks like a little stretching on the skin over his nose and around eyes.. is this normal? I have an appointment for a vet check up. anything I can do to help him look his best. He is such a lovely cat and would love some tips how to best look after him. Thanks! I hope so, he is already one of the best cats I ever had!!

My best guess is to just wait till you go to the vet, they are very good at answering questions like this. You man not want to do too much while he is adjusting, cats, especially older cats, have trouble adjusting sometimes and you do not want to stress him out the first few days at a new home. It is so wonderful that you adopted an older cat. It is extremely difficult for a cat of that age to ever be adopted. You most likely saved his life.
