Call your local shelter, and ask them if they have any white persians, if you are not in a hurry, you can get on a waiting list for one. |

If your looking for a pure blood kitten you wont find one for $200. And though I always go to shelters to get my cats, you will NOT find a real persian there Make sure if you're paying hundreds for a kitten that it's registered and you get the papers. Without papers you have a very expensive domestic long hair that Looks like a persian, not an actual persian. |

You're not going to find a pedigreed, PKD negative Persian kitten for under $600 anywhere. As for solid white, it's not really a desired colour for showing so finding one may not be that easy. Best way to find a breeder would be to go to cat shows. There's LOTS of them in California and TICA has a show just about every month in Arcadia, CA ticamembers.org/ calendar/ As you probably don't even know what PKD is, please do your research so you DO know. Buy a PKD+ kitten and it could go into Renal Failure and drop dead as young as four years old. Are you also aware that Persian cats need to be combed - not brushed - and this needs to be done at least EVERY OTHER DAY ALL YEAR LONG or the coat will mat. Sadly, since Persians are so high maintenance, they're one of the breeds most often dumped at shelters by owners who didn't research the care they need. On that note, if you WILL take the time to regularly groom a cat why not go to a shelter and adopt an adult Persian? Here's one at a shelter right near you petfinder.com/ petdetail/ 17025250 and another petfinder.com/ petdetail/ 21521364 edit: Canadian - I did say there were adult Persians at shelters and even linked to a couple just a few miles from this person. You really think a shelter in OHIO or TORONTO, ON, CANADA is going to adopt out to someone in California? No, they will not. And FYI - "purebred " is never a term used with cats - it's "pedigree ". |

Contrary to some people's belief, they're plenty of purebreds waiting to be adopted and have the papers to back it up... petfinder.com/ petdetail/ 21625429 petfinder.com/ petdetail/ 21199805 petfinder.com/ petdetail/ 21024305 petfinder.com/ petdetail/ 19051312 petfinder.com/ petdetail/ 21644096 petfinder.com/ petdetail/ 20448599 petfinder.com/ petdetail/ 19579583 petfinder.com/ petdetail/ 21241036 petfinder.com/ petdetail/ 21241049 Those persians are just an example. : ) |

Actually Persian cats are really expensive. And it also cost a lot of money to breed her. You must follow the requirements. 1. Registered in CFA, TICA, or ACFA 2. Shown in one of those associations to champion or grand champion titles. 3. Be over 1 yr old. 4. Be tested for PKD and any other Persian genetic problem (this is a MUST before any Persian is bred now). 5. Be willing to spay/ neuter the kittens before they leave your home and you must keep them for 3-4 montths, give all shots, and test for PKD. 6. Be willing to take back any kitten in the future if the owner cannot keep it. 7. Study the breed, study the pedigrees. Persians usually need a c-section to deliver kittens and this can cost you $1,500+ |

What about a rescue? Here is a white Persian male named Jojo who sounds like a super personality very fun, sweet cat! I don't know the adoption fee but breed rescues are generally around $150-250. which would be considerably less than a Persian kitten from a reputable breeder. You could get Jojo tested for PKD before finalizing the adoption. helpingpersiancats.org/ index.php?option= com_sobi2 &sobi2Task= sobi2Details &sobi2Id= 130 &Itemid= 80 Expect to pay at LEAST $500, and more likely $600+ . for a kitten from a really good breeder who is doing it for the right reasons, is very careful about researching pedigrees & choosing matings, does health testing incl PKD ( a serious kidney disease that Persians are at risk for, good breeders test the breeding cats for it - make sure you SEE the test results don't just take their word) , does not breed cats with breathing problems, offers a health guarantee, is breeding to a standard and showing their cats to get independent assessments of their breeding , .......... A good breeder won't sell a kitten under 10 wks, and usually they keep them to 12 weeks. More time with their mother and littermates is better for their psychological and social development. It would be a great idea to go to a cat show. You'll see more Persians at CFA shows since they are the most popular breed in CFA. and that would be a good chance to meet some breeders. and if they don't have whites someone will know a breeder who does. There are some beautiful white Persians showing in CFA so I am sure there are pet kittens. Info on upcoming shows in the southwest region There's one in San Diego at the end of this month, and one in Glendale next month. cfasouthwest.org/ index.php?option= com_content &view= article &id= 36:5shows &catid= 25:information-center &Itemid= 55 Make sure you understand the grooming needs of a Persian. People who can't / don't want to commit to the grooming should not own Persians. You need to comb the cat every day, all year round, for the rest of its life, to avoid the coat getting painful mats that are hard to get out. Brushing does NOT work , you need to get some metal grooming combs, one with wide spaced teeth and another with closer teeth, and every day take time to comb through the coat getting loose hair from the undercoat out. and making sure to get areas like where the legs join the body, the tail , rear, under the chin, etc. You should be able to do this in 10 minutes or less a day IF you keep up with it. If you let it slide it can turn into a horrible mess and take much longer to deal with. |
