Transmittable cat diseases? My neighbour's cat is a problem.?
My male cat, Zach, is desexed but next door's female is not. The female is constantly coming into our yard and into my house to get Zach to mount her. Even though Zach is desexed, he's still just as interested in her as any other male cat would be. I'm worried that since she's roaming the streets in heat she may catch something and pass it on to Zach. I can't go over and talk to my neighbour about it because I'm worried that I'll end up yelling or crying since I'm angry at them over a lot of things, so I was thinking of leaving a note in their letter box asking them to consider keeping her inside. My place is tiny so it's not fair to Zach for me to keep him inside constantly, and he doesn't wander out of the yard anyway so I don't think I should be expected to keep him in when he's not the one causing the problem. I have spoken to my neighbour about their cat's wanderings before, but they brushed me off. What would you say to a neighbour to get them to either desex their cat or keep her inside? They don't seem to know or care that she could have get a disease from the close contact she's having with other cats in the neighbourhood. My friend suggested that I list some of the diseases that can be transmitted easily and say that I'm concerned about my cat catching them, but I don't know a lot of examples. There's also the annoying fact that I'm allergic to their cat and she comes in and leaves fur all over the place every time I leave the door open for Zach, but my main concern is Zach's health. If they haven't got the presence of mind to desex her, brush her, or give her a collar which is a concern in our area since cats without collars have gone missing before , I doubt that they've taken her for immunisations. Zach is up to date with his shots, but there are diseases that don't have immunisations.

Can cat diseases be transfered to my house cat if i touched a stray cat?
I think the cat might have been sick or something because it lost patches of fur. I forgot to wash my hands after and then i pet my cat. I didnt touch either my house cat or the stray cat's saliva, so i don't think i can give my cat rabies. But can other diseases be transfered by touch?this was only a few days ago, and my cat isn't showing symptoms. if i take him to the vet then what can he do?
What cat diseases should I worry about?
I just adopted a stray cat and I am concerned it might have some diseases. He looks okay, but he keeps scratching itself. I plan to take it to the vet soon, but how can I avoid catching any diseases he might have?

What are some common feral cat diseases?
I just moved on an acre of land in a semi rural area about a year ago. I have always had domestic cats and love them. About a year ago a feral cat gave birth to 3 kittens. One of them became tame enough to become our domestic pet. She chose us, we did not force it on her. The mother and her 2 siblings came to my porch every day and I fed them. They've all grown and the other 2 siblings stay close to our property I see them on and off weekly. I also see the father but haven't seen the mother in quite some time. Now one of the siblings has a runny nose and his hind legs are shaky. He's staying close and seems a little listless. He's still eating. I realize no one can diagnose without actually examining him but has anyone had experience? Can they sometimes have a cold and get over it? I am worried. He lets me get w in 2 feet but I don't want to reach out to him. I'm sure he'd bite and I'd end up with a nasty infection. It's so tempting to try and pet him. I'm very fond of him and look forward to seeing him when he comes around. I'm praying that what ever he has will pass.

Some kind of cat disease?
What's worse than a kitten dying?Lots of kittens dying. So, we have a lot of stray cats in our neighborhood. That's really nice, except the fact they keep tearing open garbage bags. Anyway, there has been some kind of illness around, which causes symptoms like snotty noses, sneezing and difficulty in breathing and smelling, which the online community, after being asked, defined as cat flu. Makes sense. Now, this year there has been a remarkably large amount of what I call teen cat pregnancy, with the result of, as expected, lots of kittens. All was fine and well, when those kittens started dying one buy one. Cat flu, one would say, were it not for the fact these kittens did not show any of the symptoms mentioned above. On the contrary, one day, the kitten you were playing with yesterday, the one happily gnawing on your finger trying to act all tiger like, is lying dead, flies all around it. In about two weeks, the kitten population around our house fell form 14 to 4. That's ten kittens. So does anyone have an idea as to what was causing these kittens to die during the course of a single night?
Does a cat disease stay in your home after the affected cat has past away?
A few months ago my husband and I tried to save a 4 week old kitten whose mother had abandoned her and her 3 siblings had past away. We loved her and took her to an emergency vet to try and save her. We held her the majority of the time we had her and had her on our couch. Sadly, she pasted away only three days after we got her. Now we have moved into a new home and we adopted a 7 weeks old kitten from our local animal shelter. Only five days after we brought her home I found her dead the morning of the fifth day. I was devastated there was no warning and no time to take her to a vet. The shelter said she may have be affected with some sort of ailment when we brought her home. A few weeks later my husband got me two precious 5 1 2 weeks old kittens. Just this past weekend they both past away just as suddenly as my animal shelter kitty I love cats and I can't take much more heartache, but I feel that without a cat to love I'm not whole If that makes sense Can a disease stay in my house or on my furniture and affect any cat I bring in? And if so is there anyway to get rid of it??? ???? PLEASE HELP When one of my 5 1 2 week old kittens got sick I was holding her. She started moving around in unnatural positions and meowing. Then she just stopped moving it was almost like she lost consiousness. Then she would periodically " wake up" again and move around and meow then back to nothing. After awhile she couldn't hold her head up she was just spasming slightly. I held her and talked to her for 2 1 2 hours.... Then she stopped waking up and she past a half hour later....She also had an eye infection which I was treating with prescription eye ointment. I hope that sheds new light on the disease or condition.
HELP! Contagious cat disease?
The first symptoms were apparant constipation the cat was walking around awkwardly, squatting and attempting to pass a bowel movement nothing was coming out and occasionally crying as if in pain , then she stopped eating and drinking and started losing weight rapidly. She was taken to the vet, who could not diagnose her they checked up her anus and said it looked or felt clear and checked her kidneys and liver and said they were fine . They told me her white and red blood cells were very low and that her body seemed to be breaking down. They also said that whatever she had wasn't contagious and gave her some fluids and steroid pills for me to take home and give daily to try and help get her put weight on and get back on track. After a second trip to the vet, they did some more tests, but there was still nothing conclusive. They suggested that it was possible that it was blood or bone cancer. Now, about 2 weeks later, my elderly cat has started displaying one of the same symptoms apparant constipation. This only started today. She came into the lounge room crying and squatting, trying to defecate. We took her outside and she staggered around awkwardly for several minutes, crying, before finally passing a small, oddly shaped bowel movement. Could this just be simple coincidence that she was constipated, or could it be that the 'disease' that my other cat has actually IS contagious and has been passed on to my elderly cat? I have three other cats living in the same house and am worried for their safety too, now. Has anyone else had a pet with these symptoms? Any help is very much appreciated Also, the first cat suffered diarrhea, dehydration, and poor unkempt coat condition.
Killer Cat Disease!?!?
Can a cat disease stay in your home and affect other cats that come in contact with it? I had a small sick cat that I tried to save. I couldn't and she died. Then I got another cat, who died 5 days later. Then I get two more kittens, they died 9 days after I got them. Is there any hope for me and owning a pet? ? ? ? ? I love cats and was torn apart when my kitties died. They died VERY quickly. First they got lazy, then limp and not being able to hold up there head. then unconscious, then they we're gone.... How can I get rid of this disease so I can own a cat again? ? ? PLEASE HELP.I had no time to take them to the vet. With in two to four hours is all the time it took for the cats to get sick and then pass. I know how to own and animal, thank you. The first little kitten that was sick I took to a emergency vet and they charged me an arm and a leg and told me she only needed water.... But they had her on and IV for 3 days and then sent her home and she died the next morning. I've mopped, washed blankets, and sprayed disinfectant spray.
Mysterious sick cats. Disease?
I have 2 indoor cats. They are both healthy and happy. I am concerned about some outdoor feral cats in my complex. Myself and another neighbor put food and water out for them. About 6 months ago, one of the feral cats had a large abscess of some sort burst on my patio. There was a lot of blood. He quickly lost a lot of weight and was found dead within 10 days. Now, another feral cat, that has kittens about 4 months ago, has just had the same thing happen. She looks very thin and sometimes acts lethargic. Something burst on the side of her face a few days ago. There is a lot of blood all over my patio. Now it looks as if there is something an abscess? on the top of her head. I've tried doing some research, but I haven't been able to find much out. I'm concerned about tracking something inside to my cats as well. It starts out as a large abscess of some sort on the side of the face, it burst and bleeds a lot, and then they die. I can't find anything with those symptoms. Help
Is this a cat disease?
So...we moved to Seattle recently ...long story... and nearby the house there is some group of feral cats one of which lacks a certain amount of hair. I mean...there is a small spot, one or 2 spots actually behind his her neck where there is almost no hair. Also, the cat looks kind of weaker and more often than not moving alone without the others. Is this all too suspicious or am i too paranoid? I am obviously asking, since if it's dangerous to help the cat go to a veterinarian. 10x.
Are nomadic cats disease-free most of the time?
My mom just got a small cat from outside. We rescued it and plan to wash it and take care of it, but I am a little scared that it might have rabies or anything else. What are the chances that it's sick? I mean, these cats feed from the garbage cans.
