Is there a cat disease that causes fur to come off in strips?
There's a stray cat that comes around my house, and we feed him pretty much every day he's very skittish and we can't get near him enough to take him in . He's black and white medium haired, not quite long haired but rather fluffy. Last year he looked really ragged, and like he had big chunks of fur missing from his sides. We figured he just got into a fight or something. He healed up since then, but this morning we found strips and balls of black fur in our yard and garage. One strip was about the length and width of a cat's tail, which we thought it was at first. But upon inspection, it was just a strip of fur, like it came out by the roots in one long piece. What could cause a cat to lose fur in a pattern like that?

Anyone know an interesting non-infections dog or cat disease?

Can cat diseases be transfered to my house cat if i touched a stray cat?
I think the cat might have been sick or something because it lost patches of fur. I forgot to wash my hands after and then i pet my cat. I didnt touch either my house cat or the stray cat's saliva, so i don't think i can give my cat rabies. But can other diseases be transfered by touch?this was only a few days ago, and my cat isn't showing symptoms. if i take him to the vet then what can he do?

What kind of cat disease is fatal?
My cat of 7 years passed away just recently. He started to lose his fur and got some bleeding around his face and ears. His face also started to look swollen. What must I do to clean the house off the disease just in case I get a new cat soon?

What are some common feral cat diseases?
I just moved on an acre of land in a semi rural area about a year ago. I have always had domestic cats and love them. About a year ago a feral cat gave birth to 3 kittens. One of them became tame enough to become our domestic pet. She chose us, we did not force it on her. The mother and her 2 siblings came to my porch every day and I fed them. They've all grown and the other 2 siblings stay close to our property I see them on and off weekly. I also see the father but haven't seen the mother in quite some time. Now one of the siblings has a runny nose and his hind legs are shaky. He's staying close and seems a little listless. He's still eating. I realize no one can diagnose without actually examining him but has anyone had experience? Can they sometimes have a cold and get over it? I am worried. He lets me get w in 2 feet but I don't want to reach out to him. I'm sure he'd bite and I'd end up with a nasty infection. It's so tempting to try and pet him. I'm very fond of him and look forward to seeing him when he comes around. I'm praying that what ever he has will pass.

What kind of contagious deadly cat disease has frothy or green watery vomit?
2 cats have died in the last two days, one is ill. the only symptoms are lethargy and vomit turning slowly from clear frothy to clear green. no food at all in vomit. normal stools and urine. tried saline subcutaneous injections on one that later died, the other that died had been taking antibiotics for 5 days. even more alarming is the death occurs within hours of first lethargy.i'm slowly accepting i may lose the sick one too, but i have many cats due to cat rescue and fostering.....so i'm beside myself.

Questions about f.i.p the cat disease.?
I have a cat. he is about 6 years old. He recently came inside with a huge bloated stomach well about a week ago . He acted perfectly fine though, he ate the same, drank the same and his behavior hadn't changed. We gave him two differnet treatments for worms in hopes of the bloated stomach only being worms and nothing else. 24 hours passed and no worms had came out, and he hadn't thrown anything up. So we decided to take him into the vet on wednesday, but the vet closed early so we took him thursday morning. The vet suggested it could be F.I.P..... he took some liquid from my cats abdomen, and said if it came back thick yellow color then it's most likley F.I.P... which means my cat will not survive. But he sent him home with us... my cat has a swollen abdomen still, and his front arm is starting to feel swollen but not the paw or anything. Why is this? And does anyone else know anyhting about F.I.P? The vet wasn't very informative.Well our vet is old, and me and my sister took him in we're 17 and 19 , he has been a vet since 1960 and we took him there because it was close and he saved 3 of our cats out of 4 vet visits we've taken to him for emergencies. So we had high hopes for him. He looked at the fluid and said it looked to be FIP, and my cat got depressed yesterday, he was eating fine but he did seem to lose weight, we started feeding him canned food between thursday and friday. However he passed away lastnight...

Are nomadic cats disease-free most of the time?
My mom just got a small cat from outside. We rescued it and plan to wash it and take care of it, but I am a little scared that it might have rabies or anything else. What are the chances that it's sick? I mean, these cats feed from the garbage cans.
