Severe cat diarrhea after food change?
our male cat who is 4 years old has always had a dodgy tummy and is sick quite often, so i found new cat food that is supposed to be 60% real chicken with no additives, he has had 2 sachets, but today i woke up and he has had explosive diarrhea what should i do?put him straight back to the old food or give him eggs or rice? last time he had diarrhea the vet told me to calm his tummy by giving him eggs, chicken and rice for 2 days.. should i repeat this??thanks for your help
How to get cat diarrhea out of the carpet?
my cat just pooped a pile of diarrhea under my desk. how do i go about cleaning this?
What type of wet food won't give my cat diarrhea?
I have two kittens a male that's 15 weeks and a female that's 11 weeks old I was feeding them a pate type wet food and about a week ago I switched to a meaty bits formula with gravy. Today my male kitten had a diarrhea accident and I was wondering if it was from the type of food I switched to? I don't want to feed them dry food because from my research, wet food is better. What type of wet food should I feed them? Or is the diarrhea from something else? I don't think today was the first incident with diarrhea either because when I clean the litter box it seems different. I don't know if that makes sense
Blood in cat diarrhea?
I've had my cat for a little more than a year now... I found her when she was about a month old, abandoned and malnourished.. She's always have very soft stools and often diarrhea , but the vet said that can be normal, given her history. However, when I went in to clean her litter box a few minutes ago, I noticed heavy diarrhea in the box and some on the floor. The diarrhea in the box contained a moderate amount of red blood. My vets office is closed, and I'm really concerned even though my cat seems fine... Does anyone know what the problem could be or how I should go about handling it?Thanks in advance
Chronic cat diarrhea - Help!?
I have two cats, and they both have diarrhea. I don't have a lot of money to take them to the vet and pay for tons of tests, but my vet did give me a de wormer for both of them Provent . Apparently the problem isn't worms. I have tried giving them each probiotics regularly, and diarrhea medication. The only thing that seemed to make a difference was the Pet Pectillin, but I was under the impression that once I saw improvement I should stop giving them the medicine. Any ideas? It's been a couple months now and they both act fine in every other way, I'm just tired of not being able to help them I HAVE spoken to the vet. Like I said, they were given a de wormer which, to my knowledge, deals with parasites. They are on a high quality diet. Food with no additives, corn, or wheat. My concern is Why would the diarrhea medication seem to fix the problem, but once I stop it they go back to the way they were?
I noticed every cat food except Iams brand cat food gives my cat diarrhea?
Every single cat food except Iams gives my cat diarrhea and I've had him for 7 8 years so I know this.It doesn't matter if it's dry or wet soft food...if it's friskies or fancy feast...they all give him diarrhea.Iams keeps his droppings perfectly normal though...Why?What's so great about the things they put in Iams? It doesn't matter which specialty of Iams I get either...any brand of Iams stops the diarrhea in full.Anyone know why? Thanks
Could a piece of onion give cat diarrhea/loose stool?
Friday Night I was outside and I was eating a tuna sandwich. a piece of onion fell out and while I was sitting on the table and my cat was walking around she ate the onion piece. I know onions are toxic to cats I did not freak out since it was a tiny piece. My cat showed no sign of sickness and yesterday I wasn't feeling well so I slept the entire day and when I woke up I checked my cats litter box if it needed to be cleaned and she has leaky poop also it was on wall of the litter so I knew it was leaky. The onion piece was the only thing I could think of. She is not sick. She has been eating, drinking and plying. Today her litter box looked like it always does so she went back to normal stool. It's not worms either she was checked recently and is dewormed.Could it have been the onion or something else she might have ate?
6 month old cat diarrhea?
I got a 6 month old brown tabby cat on September 17th. He is not neutered and has never been to a vet which means no shots have been given to him. They were feeding him Alley Cat brand cat food, and when I could not find that brand I got Whiskas instead. With my boyfriends new found allergy to un neutered cats, we moved Binx my cat to a small space next to the basement stairs. The past 2 or 3 days he has had SEVERE diarrhea. He is also very gassy. He drinks a ton and eats all of his food as well. I was wondering if his diarrhea was caused because of the food, space or if he might be ill. None of my vets are open today and I don't have enough to pay for a visit until Friday, but if I can find a solution before then I'll try it. I will get him neutered and get his shots on Friday, but I need help ASAP.Since it won't let me reply there I'll try here. I've read on several sources that male cats produce more of the allergens that affect us if they are unneutered. I don't know if that's 100% true but I'd rather try getting him neutered than letting him roam the neighborhood or be put down in a shelter. He is eating and drinking very well. Will the diarrhea eventually go away as he gets used to the new food or should I try something different? No he's not under the stairs, lol. I love him too much for that. There is a door in our kitchen that goes down 3 stairs, then a platform area, and another door that goes outside and one that goes to the basement. For right now we have him there when we go to sleep and when I'm awake he's with me wherever I go. I will try the pumpkin and syrup assuming that's okay for him? I take it the kind you put on pancakes has too much sugar? and see if he improves. Thanks for the replies
Does milk give cats diarrhea?
my cats like milk but i don't give it to them because i don't want to hurt them. can i give them lactose free milk is that better than regular organic fat free milk?
Just found dead fleas in my cats diarrhea... what does this mean?
The past week 3 of my cats have fallen ill with similar symptoms. They have all been sick, dehydrated and won't eat. They are all loosing weight including a 7 month old kitten who almost died when he was younger, he is loosing weight the most. They have been to the vets 3 times this week for injections, blood tests and faeces samples but even the vets are stumped. But they are all on medication.A few moments ago one of the infected cats walked into my kitchen with signs on diarrhea on his rear end. After cleaning it up we found dead fleas amongst the faeces. I have just learnt about parasites such as fleas in my animal management course in college, however this is the first I've heard of fully grown fleas in faeces.Anyone heard of this before? We have 8 cats in total, the remaining 5 are showing no signs of illness. The dog also suffered from similar symptoms last sunday yet recovered quickly. Thanks in advance.
Can skim milk give cats diarrhea?
I'm a vet assistant and have been working directly with the doctor for 4 years. It's late at night right now and that's why I'm not calling him to ask and I'm impatient with getting answers so here goes....My cat is dehydrated. My boss says to give him a few injections under the skin to get him rehydrated. My boyfriend doesn't want to do that. He says that skim milk will rehydrate the cat and not cause diarrhea which would just keep him dehydrated the same amount if not more because it doesn't contain the fat. Opinions? Facts? We're fighting over this because I want my cat to live but it's HIS cat so I respect his decision. Somebody please help I'd like to rehydrate him without sticking him with needles. ANY suggestions to avoid this I'm willing to accept.
Cat diarrhea question?
My 2 cats are 11 months old. They have had diarrhea for 4 days now. They have never both had it at once. They have had it by themselves at different times before and it went away in a couple of days. Now I am worried because it is both of them and it is still not gone. They are acting normal and still playing and running around. Our rescue organization told us to mix raw pumpkin in with their food. This has not worked. We are unsure what to try now, besides bringing them into the vet. If anyone has any experience with this, it would be greatly appreciated.Savanna and Sean May I ask what your problem is? It's perfectly alright to ask a question about cat health problems and if you are not mature enough to provide a real answer, please refrain from answering at all. They are indoor cats, always have been. We feed them only holistic and natural food, Wellness brand or California Natural. I can't see anything being wrong with their food, it is some of the healthiest stuff out there.
My cats diarrhea???????????????
Hi I have a himalayan persian named Lexi. She's been having diarrhea lately and because of her fur some of the poop gets stuck to her tail which makes me have to give her a bath. How can I get rid of the diarrhea and why does she have it. She's only been having it for the past 2 daysI never gave her food and neither has anybody in my familyWoops sorry I meant I never gave her human food. I give her Fancy Feast wet food 2 times a day and 1 and she has an extra bowl of dry food Kitten Chow or Fancy Feast so if we're out and her wet food bowl is empty she can snack on dry food. She's 5 months and has feline herpes Could this be why?
Cat diarrhea...dry food? wet food?
I have become completely confused recently about whether my cats' diarrhea is due to Friskies dry food or canned food. I lived in a country where even to get this brand is difficult...I know I can limit them first to one, then the other in the hope that the diarrhea stops, but does anyone have any experience with this problem and particularly which of the two types of food is the likely culprit? Thanks.
