Is there someplace online where I order a do-it-yourself cat declaw kit?
Should there be light swelling after cat declaw?
First, please don't comment about your the world's opinion on declawing. I'm well aware that some think it unethical. Most cats like to chase their owners feet when they want to play, mine liked to jump on me and scratch my face. After he missed my eye by mere centimeters, I decided it would be best to get him declawed. He was declawed just yesterday, and he seems to be doing fine. I noticed that his paws are a little swollen, I'd say about 1 4 larger than normal. One paw is a little larger than the other. I'm assuming the swelling is from the healing process and the fact that he has been jumping a little bit. Unfortunately, even in pain, he still likes to jump a lot. A carrier cage is out of the question as he thrashes around and will most likely cause more damage. He's confined in a bathroom, but he still jumps from the sink to the toilet to the tub to the floor and back again a few times a day. Even sitting right next to him hasn't prevented the jumping so there's not much I can do about it. I called the vet and was told that minor swelling might be visible as long as there's not bleeding and there's not , but if there's too much, I should bring him in. The vet is now closed and the swelling hasn't gotten any better or worse. I'm just slightly panicky and wanted to know if I should consider taking him to an emergency vet or if the swelling is from the few times he has jumped around? I'd imagine that SOME swelling is to be expected, right?
What to use for litter for cat declaw recovery time?
My 14 week old kitten is getting declawed next month. I've had cats many times before and so I would normally use shredded newspaper in the litter box during the recovery period after the procedure. However, I also have an adult cat that uses the same box believe me, I tried to get them to use their own since I purchased another box when I got the kitten, they just won't . I was wondering what an alternative would be so it won't be so " yucky" with 2 cats using the newspaper. Is there a good pellet litter that someone can recommend?Thank you to the people who are actually answering the question instead of judging me. Yes, I've read all about the possible effects of declawing cats and would not allow a surgery to be done without looking into it. All of the cats I've had are well cared for and none of them have had adverse complications from a front declaw. I respect other's opinions but would appreciate actual answers to the question.
How could anyone who loves their cat declaw the poor thing?
declawing is mutilation and torture for cats. there are many cats that get dumped off at shelters because their owners can't deal with the behavioral problems after they declawed it.This procedure NEEDS to be outlawed in the US as it is in many other countries. there is no reason for it. it is nothing more than animal abuse.
I have a LAZER cat declaw question, please?
I have 3 rescue cats , the latest one is declawed from her previous home. I have alays been against it as I grew up in the country and we had cats to control mice, outside vermin. My vet now has a Lazer to remover claws, anyone know about it? Plus' are less pain, quick recovery. thanks, I'm curiousOh gosh, I didn't mean to sound as if I was going to do it myself. Yuck. I was just curious as I have never had declawed cats other than rescue. I will admit to a few ruined couches over the years but hey, a cats supposed to scratch. My male with claws does not use furniture but he's hell on carpet. We also bring him a new box every few days. He loves to hide in and then claw out the bottom. He's weird but we love him any way. Thanks for the info BTW.Why do we allow declaws in the US ?
Cat Declaw - Recovery Question?
Hello,I know I'm bringing up a controversial issue here, but I'm not looking for any sort of debate. I'd only like to hear responses from pet lovers who've been through the process of having their cats declawed.I have 2 cats which I am going to get declawed. They are 5 years old and weigh about 11 pounds each. I'd like to declaw both their front and back paws. They are 100% indoor cats and will never have access to the outdoors.Would you please let me know your experiences with declawing your cats? How old were they when it was done? How did long was the recovery? Did you do all 4 paws? Were there any adverse affects to the declawing?Again, I'm not looking to hear the pros and cons about declawing, I know what they are. I've made my decision and am just looking to hear responses from people who have actually been through this process before. Thanks for the input
