Aggressive/antisocial cat behavior help...?
My cat expresses very anti social behavior. Basically, any time you touch him he wants to bite and latch on to your arm with his claws. This includes if you try to pet him, hold him, or even just move him out of the way or off a surface. If he is misbehaving and I try to move him away from whatever he's doing, he growls. If I give him a piece of meat he becomes EXTREMELY aggressive, and will hiss and attack anyone who even just passes by him. He just does not seem to enjoy human interaction at all. Occasionally he will climb in your lap or curl up next to you, but if you start to rub him he usually starts wagging his tail immediately, and biting and latching on soon follows. I'm not sure why he behaves this way. He is healthy, neutered, and I have had him since he was a very tiny kitten so I know that he has never been abused or neglected. I am a very patient pet owner and have dealt with behavior problems in all sorts of animals, but this one is quite a handful. What can I do to socialize him more and make him feel comfortable with people? Surprisingly, he is very nicely behaved around other animals, even dogs. I am at a loss with him... Well, I've always read that forced submission can increase aggressiveness so I'd rather not go there. I like the idea of only touching him on his terms. I think that may help in this case because he does like to be NEAR people it seems. He comes around, rubs on your legs, curls up next to you or even in your lap like a normal cat. It's just as soon as you start to respond to it he gets uncomfortable.Pets He does respond very well to treats, actually. I have thought about carrying some in my pocket all the time to help him see that good things can come from people. I think a therapy regimen is starting to piece together here. This has been very helpful, thank you all.
Is this normal cat behavior?
I have 3 cats, 2 boys and 1 girl. One of the nuetered males will hump pillows, stuffed animals, and blankets. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and he is humping my leg. But he is not just humping he really gets intense and goes faster then slower then faster again. And when I move my leg he will bite the blanket and hold on even tighter. I'm not a cat person, I have rescued all the cats I have and I have really started to love them but this seems a little odd. He has been doing this for awile now but I never worried about it because it didn't seem like a big deal. But when he was humping my leg he was getting really serious. Does he think he is humping a real cat?
Is there a medical explaination for this cat behavior?
My Mom has had her male cat for about a year now, Recently he started eating everything food in sight. He never used to do it but lately he's been eating through bread bags and eats the bread. He learned how to get the lid off the butter dish and eats the butter. She's always kept a can of bacon grease on the counter in a can and he even started eating that. He even went as far as climbing in the kitchen sink to eat the food bits in the sink strainer He wont stop and is always crying and begging for food. Could there be something medically wrong with him? He's a Siamese and is about 2 years old. She's had him for almost a year now and he just started doing it about a month ago. I suggested to her that there might be something wrong with him and she should take him to the vet, but she seems to think that since he's eating food and not non food items that he's ok. So I was wondering what it could be so I could go back to her with a good reason for her to take him to get some testing done. She also has a female Siamese and she seems fine. Please tell me if I'm wrong, but I always thought if cats share the same litter box and one has worms parasites, then they both would have it.
Really strange cat behavior. Help make sense of it?
So, someone thought it'd be fun to put a headband on my cat. Of course she gets mad at them, and rightly so.Then, when I decided to help her out, she gets mad at me for taking it off.I don't get it... Maybe she felt pretty?Yes, this is a question. Just not a very serious or important one. P
Is this normal cat behavior towards someone they love?
I am 15 and my 2 year old cat loves me to pieces. This morning, my mum said that Gizmo my cat spent 15 minutes meowing at my door and trying to get in while I was asleep. When my mum eventually let her in, I could feel her pawing on my head from under the covers and she was trying to get her nose in under with me. I was too tired so ignored it for about 5 minutes. Then she got comfy on my head and starting purring so I woke up and stroked her. She rolled over and loudly purred all the time and put her paw around my arm.I've had many cats but none of them do this to me and why me? she isn't loving towards the other 6 people in my house. Thanks everyone and Haha yes it is probably because I'm the most generous with her treats
Who understands cat behavior? Today my cat morning my cat was growling like something was wrong.?
When I turned around to check, she had a stuffed mouse in her mouth. Does she actually think its real?
Has anyone had this cat behavior issue come up?
I have a female cat. She is 12 years old. I got her from the shelter when she was 3 weeks old. My husband & I have noticed for the past almost 8 months, she is constantly following me around the house including the bathroom , demands constant attention specifically from me and my husband says that at night after I go to bed, he checks to see where the cat is, and she is usually sitting over me, staring. He says sometimes she meows at me and tries to wake me up, but I have earplugs so I don't hear her. It sounds a little obsessive to me . I was wondering if anyone has had this happen or heard of this type of behavior from a cat? Side note...I work from home and I am only gone maybe 1 hour a day at the most. She does not do this with my husband and he is gone alot due to his job. I would think it would be reversed.. Any info would be helpful. Thanks...
Is this normal domestic cat behavior or is my cat weird?
Ok so like 3 years back or so my cats lost like 3 pounds all of a sudden and wouldn't eat. We thought she was sick. We were scared. We took her to the vet, and the vet said she wasn't sick. My mom switched the cat food and she started eating again. She is healthy and 9 pounds now. Is it normal for a cat to " go on a hunger strike" as my mom would say?
Help with cat behavior?
About 3 weeks ago our 7 year old indoor only female cat accidentally got out and spent the night outside. Since that time she does not want to come out of the bedroom. We moved her food bowl, water bowl, and liter box into the bedroom so she will be more comfortable. She seems to be more aggressive now with our male cat, whenever he gets close she hisses and is willing to fight with him. She doesn't seem to have the same aggression with our other female cat. She is still gentle with us, except one two occasions while petting her she has gotten upset and scratched us. How can we correct this behavior. Just this morning she I was petting her and while petting her back she got mad and hisses then scratched me. Thanks for any advice.
Weird cat behavior Male cat drags female cat?
I have a male adult cat who has been neutered for about three months now and we have gotten this female cat like December of last year. She isnt fixed as of yet will be within a couple months so she goes into heats every ids say month and we usually keep them in separate rooms. Well what my cat would do is meow and such and make a noises and such but what he will do is pin her and bite the name of he neck and then soon sit there like he doesn't know what to do and will do this several times but he even picks her up by the nape and drag her across the floor. Should I be worried and keep them separate?
My cats behavior has changed?
My cat has begun wanting in and out of the house about 10 times an hour. She has always come and gone a few times during the day while i am home as usual for cats. Now i can hardly sleep as she claws at the window beside my bed and meows through the glass. I can't sit and watch a movie without getting up many times. Sometimes i ll let her in and she ll come in for a few seconds and when i begin to shut the door she ll run to get out again. Sometimes i open the door or window and she just looks at me and walk away, only to come back to the door and start meowing to be let in a moment later. She is driving me nuts I think she must want attention but i dont think i have been giving her less attention lately, i still pet her and play with her and she sleeps on my bed. What is going on? She is about 10 or 11 years old.
Animal (cat) behavior help?
So I have 4 cats all our related except for this kitty I got a year or so a go, she very fat now and seems to always stalk and bully my other cats, they are outside cats so they are small fit kitty's and she's more inside and is a fatty 13 pounds . I get on to her for it. My dad says it could be cause I always pick her up and man handler her but I'm not being mean I'm just holding her like a baby or talking to her. She hates me btw. But that doesn't matter to me. Hahah but could any of you tell me how come shes so mean to other cats. She also shreds so much toilet paper she slowly has started to stop but still claws into a roll or two every so often. THANKS.
Is my young cats behavior unusual?
I have six cats, three neutered males, and one spayed female and two un spayed females. They are all indoor cats. My newest cat, Ava, is about 10 months old now and has been acting a bit odd. My spayed cat is about eight years old and the others are all about four years old. Ava acts like she is in heat whenever she is around my other un spayed cat Sienna . I've had cats for a long time, but I've never had a cat act like this before. When Sienna walks by Ava, Ava will role over on her back and yowl, then follow her around acting like she wants to mate. Sienna really doesn't care about Ava, and just ignores her. Sometimes I have to seperate them because Ava will really harass Sienna.I DO know they both need to be spayed, and I will do that as soon as the money is available. However, I'm just wondering if what Ava is doing is unusual and if maybe I can do something to make her leave Sienna alone.Any advice will be appreciated, thanks
Advice on dealing with my cats behavior as she deals with our foster kittens?
My family is fostering two five week old kittens from the humane society. We are required to keep them separate from our four year old female cat who we've had since she was half a year. We are keeping the kittens in an unfinished spare bathroom that is completely empty. We were worried about our cats reaction to the kittens, and thought she would hiss at them and scratch through the door. This is not the case. Rather, she only sits by the door when I or one of my family members is interacting with the kittens. She stays perfectly calm and simply sits a good six feet away from the door. But, when I come out to pet her, that's when she begins to hiss at me, which is odd because my cat has never hissed before. I understand she is unused to the scent, but why only when I pet her, and not at the kittens themselves? She seems to ignore me as if jealous. Is there anything I should do to lessen my cat's agitation? Should I wash my hands before petting her?
