How to care for birman cats?
I have a 4 month old birman cat and was looking for tips on how to raise the little cat. Also can it be left alone during working hours or will the kitty be depressed?

my birman cat is nearly 13 and im worried about how long she's going to live for. before i got her at 8 she was one of those back yard breeding machines who i was told by her old owner had had 42 kittens. so with bad conditions for 8 years might make her not live as long? what is the average age a birman lives for anyway when i google read about it it never has the same answer.

I am looking after my parents 1 year old birman and it bites me about 10 times a day without being touched or provoked. When I get home he bites my ankles and at nite jumps on my bed and bites my nose and wont let go but he does not scratch which I find strange.Nope Im house siting for my parents for 1 month.

hi there everyone I'm curious, I know Birman cats are the sweetie of the cat world but I have two birds in my house whole, a four year old cockatiel Norri and my sister's Sun Conure Quixote, I know the cat and my dog mo will get along perfectly but I'm wondering for those who have birmans with birds because I'm intrested in getting a birman and are they good for first time cat owners.The reason why I chose this breed and keeping a eye out for rescue groups, and I want to make sure my bird who I raised and my sister's bird don't become cat food and I get my head bitten off by my sister. And I got to make sure I find the most gentlest that won t harm the birds once it's fully grown and not go out the doggy door. I would love to adopt a cat from my animal shelter but I have to ask alot of questions about the kitten or young cat before adopting. And I doubt they want to hear a bunch of questions from special ed kid.

I AM IN TEARS I adopted a full blood male Birman about two years ago. If you know the breed, then you know how incredibly sweet and affectionate these cats are. And Mr. Clooney my cat is a prime example he loves on me, lays with me, and is literally so loving that he can be suffocating at times. They are a very dog like and very personable breed. Recently however, when I go to pick him up he hisses and claws at me, and tries to bite me. And when he is on my bed and I move around even the slightest bit he growls...this is NOT NORMAL BIRMAN BEHAVIOR I don't know what is happening with him This was like, an overnight thing. Yesterday he was fine but today he is doing this. He still lets me pet on him but not snuggle or anything. He's neutered been neutered since he was 13wks old so I know it can't be testosterone related...anyone have any ideas on why he is acting this way all of a sudden? I want my snuggle bug back

I don't want a person name because I hate when cats have people names can someone help?? I also dont want something long like moonshine, just something that rolls off the tongue. Does anyone know what to do about my Birman cat who is using my bed as a litter tray?
I have had my birman cat now for about 5 years now, he must be about 14 year old now, he came from an old lady who died. He came from a house of 3 dogs, 2 birmans and 2 other cats so he should be use to other animals? We have 2 other cats 1 male about 7 years old and 1 female about 13 years old . But in the last 2 year he has started to pooing and weeing on my bed, it started off as as a once every 6 months to now which has been 3 times in the last week We have tried everything I know but to no avail Is there any one who can help?He has been to the vets and once he did have a UTI but he stopped going on the bed when he was sick but it is a choice thing for him He will be sitting on my lap then he will go upstairs and goes on the bed other times he goes up stairs for a drink or a nap . The vet seems to think it might be a training issue or attenion seeking thing? But he is at the Vets next week for his flea jab so I will get it checked out again.We have given him a litter tray in the house in case he did not want to go out side but he will go in side has a dig around and go upstairs
